"Who else do I know who is on Blogspot?"

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him,and he will make straight your paths.  Proverbs 3:5-6

Well, here's a true confession:  Mineke is definitely THE scrapbooker in our family.  Just this past Christmas, she gave of her own hard work to make for each of the boys a scrapbook keepsake, and a 2013 calendar for me.  So what am I doing putting together the first blog on this site?  Honestly, I'm just trying to figure this out so I can set her loose on it.  I know she'll have some questions and I want to be able to answer them.  And, who knows?  I may end up putting in a page or two once I figure this out.

After several years on Facebook, sharing pictures and ups and downs in the form of briefly worded posts, I see some drawbacks to that venue and some value to this blogging.  Probably the biggest drawback to the FB, is that some of our family isn't too interested in it, so I never see them there.  AND some of those people--you know who you are--have their own page here.
I like this picture from Fathers Day 2011!

I tried the blogging thing a while back simply because I like to write, and thought the blog would be a great outlet for this joy.  Funny thing, is that when I started a blog for the second time back in February of last year, I literally never wrote a word in it.  It still sits waiting for some literature.

Kent & Kim & Josiah Nelson
Then, my sister posted a link to a blog--on her Facebook--and I enjoyed perusing through her posts, and her pictures on BOTH of her family blog, nelsonnook7.blogspot.com.  I had already enjoyed regularly seeing Kim, her husband Kent and their son Josiah on Facebook, so I didn't feel that lack, but I did discover the creativity of a blog over the format of Facebook is far greater.  More in depth, thoughtful writing interspersed with poems and pictures; and! you can look up post from months and years earlier.

Cliff & Joleena; Nick, Hannah, Joe, Samuel,
Grace, Jonathon, Ruth, Leah
Then, I was reminded of my sister-in-law's announcement some time ago of a blog they had created, eightlittlepeoples.blogspot.com.  Cliff & Joleena's family has never been on Facebook, and now I see why.  The simplicity, and quality of their blog demonstrates no need for it.  Yet, I often was a little bothered that I didn't get to see regular pictures of their children as they are growing up.  Of course, our family lives in Illinois, the Nelsons live in Montana and Cliff and his family live in Vermont.  This blogspot handles all this very well.

According to Mapquest, from Kim's town of Kalispell, Montana (A beautiful place!) to our town of St. Charles, Illinois is 1567.4 miles, then to press on to Cliff's home in Forestdale, Vermont is another 930.71 miles.  Needless to say, I wish we all lived a little closer, and could see each other more often.  WAIT!  We can, with a technological balance of Blogspot, Skype (or, Facetime), cell phones and, uh, of course driving or flying to visit face to face.  Here's the Mapquest perspective link:  Let me know if this works, or if there's a better way to do this.

So--how do you think we'll get Mom and Dad in on this? Any ideas? Or, do they too have a blog? No longer will I be surprised. (Picture pending posting . . . )

Now when I was a first year student at Moody Bible Institute in 1989, my English teacher, Mrs. Beam, encouraged us to write a journal, and to a large extent, I have written continuously in a personal journal I have always called a "Joynal!" ever since.  I put regular, journal-type things in there, like what was going on and how I was doing, and included many prayers, some pictures, some poems (now in another blog poetry-lost.blogspot.com that I'm still figuring out how to lay out) and many other things.  I suppose, to some extent this is how a blog sort of works.

I'm looking forward to introducing other people and places of importance to our family too.

So the obvious question (to me) as I write these words is "Who else do I know who is on Blogspot?"

Comment on here--my very first blog, with words in it--and let us know.  This could be the beginning of something very interesting...or just fun.

  2. You don't remember us, but we (Syd & Cyndy) go to church with Cliff & Joey. I googled eightlittlepeoples and THERE was another Audet blog, so I clicked on it. Welcome to blogworld!
